Heron ink and watercolour

I live on the west coast of Canada and Great Blue Herons scatter the shores, lakes, ponds and rivers. Waiting for crayfish, frogs, lake trout and young salmon.  They are majestic, patient, slow moving and lone stalkers ever ready to pounce.

The above painting is ink brush first then watercolour on watercolour paper. Mostly wet on wet paint for the misty effect. Watercolour is becoming my favourite medium. Easy to work with, requiring little space, not messy or smelly and easy to clean up. Unlike acrylics or oils you need to get it right the fist time as painting on top mixes.
